The SBD-3 Dauntless was an American dive bomber that played a crucial role in the Pacific during World War II. This variant, produced between 1941 and 1943, featured additional armor, improved fuel tanks, and a reinforced cockpit. It was powered by a Wright R-1820 Cyclone radial engine of approximately 1,000 hp, enabling it to reach speeds of up to 410 km/h. The aircraft was known for its stability during steep dives and its accurate bombing capabilities.

Armament consisted of two 12.7 mm machine guns in the nose and one or two 7.62 mm machine guns behind the cockpit. The Dauntless could carry a bomb of up to 725 kg under the fuselage, often supplemented by smaller bombs under the wings.
