The Iveco Fiat 190.38 belongs to the heavy European road tractors from the early 1980s. Iveco was formed in 1975 from various commercial vehicle brands, including Fiat. In the years that followed, older brand traditions and new Iveco developments merged in the range for international transport.
The 190.38 combined a forward-tilting cab with a heavy diesel engine. The designation referred to the weight class and the engine power of approximately 380 hp. As a tractor unit for semi-trailers, it had to be capable of covering long distances with sufficient pulling power for mountain passes and heavy loads.
The 1983 Cowboy version placed extra emphasis on appearance and driver comfort. Striking exhausts and accessories gave the European cab an aesthetic that referenced American trucks. Such versions aligned with the growing interest in personalized trucks.
