The Dodge WC-62 and WC-63 were American six-wheeled trucks from the Second World War. They were developed as larger supplements to the well-known ¾-ton Dodge vehicles. The longer chassis provided space for more personnel and cargo.
A six-cylinder petrol engine powered all six wheels. The vehicles had an open cab and a cargo bed that could be configured for troop transport. The WC-63 was equipped with a front-mounted winch, while the WC-62 did not have one as standard.
The vehicles were used for transporting infantry, supplies, and equipment. Their off-road capability made them useful behind advancing combat units. A simple construction and many shared parts aided in maintenance and supply.
Production took place during the second half of the war. These Dodges remained in service with various countries even after 1945. The family demonstrates how an existing vehicle base could be extended and adapted to greater transport needs without developing a completely new concept.
