Hurricane Mk. IIC | 2828 | Italeri | 1:48
The Hurricane Mk. IIC was an advanced variant of the British fighter that played a versatile role within the Allied air forces during the Second World War. This version appeared in 1941 and remained in production until 1944. The aircraft was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin XX V12 engine with an output of approximately 1,280 hp, enabling speeds of up to about 540 km/h. The Mk. IIC was known for its stability, robust construction, and wide range of applications.
The armament represented a significant improvement over earlier variants and consisted of four 20 mm cannons in the wings. This heavy firepower made the aircraft particularly effective against enemy aircraft and ground targets. In addition, the aircraft could carry bombs, rockets, or external fuel tanks, making it suitable for ground attacks and tactical support of land operations.
Thousands of Mk. IIC units were produced, and the aircraft was deployed on various fronts, including North Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The fighter played an important role in ground attacks, escort missions, and air defense. In North Africa, the aircraft was widely used for attacks on enemy vehicles and supply routes, where the heavy cannon armament proved particularly effective.
The Hurricane Mk. IIC was flown by various Allied squadrons and was known as a reliable workhorse that could operate under diverse conditions. Although later and faster fighters took over part of the air combat role, the Hurricane remained important as an attack aircraft and tactical support platform. The aircraft is remembered as a versatile and durable fighter that made a significant contribution to Allied operations in multiple theaters of war.
This Italeri model is based on this versatile fighter and represents one of the most recognizable aircraft used for both air combat and ground attacks during the Second World War.
