The Boston III / A-20 B/C Havoc was an American medium bomber and night fighter deployed during the Second World War in the early 1940s. Produced from 1941 onwards, this variant combined speed, agility, and a substantial bomb load, making the aircraft suitable for tactical bombing and night operations. The aircraft was powered by two Wright R-2600 radial engines of approximately 1,600 hp each, enabling speeds of up to about 540 km/h and an operational range of approximately 2,000 km.
The armament consisted of several 12.7 mm and 7.62 mm machine guns in the nose, wings, and tail. In addition, the aircraft could carry up to approximately 900 kg of bombs. This made the Havoc suitable for precision attacks on both maritime and land targets.
Thousands of units were produced and deployed on various fronts, including Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Pacific theater. The aircraft played an important role in tactical bombing, night operations, and light attack missions. Pilots valued the aircraft for its reliability and versatility under various conditions.
